Job Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological tests on various test items.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct sampling and manage samples per approved protocols.
  • Utilize microbiological techniques and equipment for testing.
  • Interpret test results accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements.

    Educational Requirements

    Undergraduate or Diploma, Certificate, in microbiology, food science or any other related field.

    Experience Requirements

    1 Year Experience in a similar lab or in a related field.

    Additional Requirements

    Required Knowledge


    1. General Laboratory Process – Knowledge of chemical and microbiological principles & terminologies of test items, Laboratory procedures and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements


    2. Test Items Handling, Preparation, Analysis & Storage – Knowledge of how to handle various sample matrices, preservation requirements, maintenance of sample integrity, preparation requirements, testing and storage conditions e.g. Water, foods, raw materials etc.


    3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance – Knowledge of operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment especially fridges, freezers, autoclaves, ovens, incubators, Laminar flows, biosafety cabinets etc.


    4. General Laboratory Safety – Knowledge of safety procedures of sample handling and disposal, chemical and reagents handling etc.


    Required Skills and Abilities


    1. Computer skills – Proven competencies in software applications and programs, i.e. Microsoft Office, (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) and LIMS to effectively complete tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy.


    2. Time Management Skills – Ability to plan and organize daily work routine and prioritizes tasks accordingly.


    3. Analytical Skills – Ability to evaluate data found through testing, perform statistical calculation to completion.


    4. Attention to Detail – Demonstrate strong attention to specific testing procedures and adhering to safety standards.


    5. Interpersonal / Customer Service skills – Develops and maintains cooperative and courteous relationship with workmates and customers as well as handle routine inquiries and complains where applicable.


    6. Communication Skills – Excellent ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented either orally or written and handle issues with tact or diplomacy.
